The Explorers Ponder 2

Fakaalofa lahi atu bloggers, happy Niuen language week!

6 things I would need to survive in the Amazon forest is :

  • 1 : Warm dry clothes ( track pants, hoodies ) because I wouldn’t wanna be stranded in the Amazon forest with wet clothes, so I can be warm and I can’t get bite by tiny creatures on my legs / arms.
  • 2 : A jug of clean water, because I wouldn’t drink the water their because its probaly dirty. And so I can stay hydrated.
  • 3 : A survival weapon ( something sharp ) incase of a emergency or if I need to defend myself from wild animals.
  • 4:  Medical kit full of stuff like bandages, plasters, epi pen incase me or someone else gets hurt or if they have a allergic reaction to something in the Amazon Forest.
  • 5 : Shelter so I can be safe and if it rains I get sick / wet.
  • 6 : Easy to access food so I can just easily eat it without making it and taking time.

I think the most important stuff is a medical kit, warm clothes and shelter though, so if I could only choose 3 I would pick those.

If you had only 1 thing you could bring what would you choose and why?

Would You Rather Ponder?..

Kia ora bloggers,

I would rather have the ability to see 10 minutes into the future rather then 10 years, because I think seeing 10 minutes into the future is more useful then 10 years. Lots of things can change with in 10 years, and I think if you did 10 minutes you could see every 10 minutes ahead ( if you could use it infinite times ) which would be cool.

If you could choose, what time ability would you choose?

The Explorers Ponder 1! ( First Ponder this Term )

Kia ora bloggers! Did you have a good holiday?

If I was an explorer I would choose Switzerland or Tokyo, I love the mountains,  landscapes and overall looks of Switzerland. I think it would be so cool to hike up one of the hills or go for a walk their.

Or Tokyo because they have very cool and unique stuff their, including vending machines, nice city and because they have Mario Carts in real life. Which I think would be super fun to go on with your friends or family! I know it’s not really exploring in nature, but I woud consider it exploring still.

Have you heard of Mario Carts in real life in Tokyo? And would you go on it?

Maritime Museum!

Kia ora bloggers,

today we went to the Maritime Museum and it was super fun. I enjoyed going on the boat ( Ted Ashby ) And pulling the sail which was a little bit hard.

They had interactive games that you could play, like a sailing game which was with 5 or 6 people and you all had to do your part.

There was another thing in the main area we entered. 2 pictures of people and were telling facts about the muesum and about the place were in ( wakas ) they were animated.

The Ted Ashby was very cool. We got to pull the sails and could walk around, I think everyone liked the boat ( although some people felt sick ) we also saw some bungee jumpers on the Harbour bridge. We saw 2 people jump and we went around the Harbour once.

Heres some things about the actual Museum that I enjoyed. I loved the room where it swayed a little bit side to side and their was bunk beds ( it was supposed to act like the bunkers in a boat and how its going over waves I think ) it was also my favourite.

Their was 2 or 3  huge rooms fulled of wakas, the big one was the height of the roof and their was some other small wakas near it, it reminded me of Moana.

We learnt about migration and things that helped guide the people when sailing : stars, birds, ( god wits ) whales, ( humpback ) wind, sun, moon, clouds and currents. Eagles don’t help when trying to find your away around when foyaging. All they do it go in a circle and leads you nowhere.

But the point of this visit was to learn about migration, and how some of our ansestors traveled back then and about the settelers.

A really interesting story a guy named Lee told us ( he was touring us around the museum ) was maori people were sailing and dutch people were sailing. They saw eachother and the maori people said :

“Its a goblin!” There attacking us!”

But the dutch just wanted to talk and not fight, but the dutch couldn’t understand what the maori were saying because they didn’t understand maori. The maori thought they were getting attacked so they blew this horn to let everyone know that their attacking. The dutch blew their horn to because they thought it was good to do that back. But for maori it ment that they wanted to fight and so thats what they did. And unfortunately some people passed away including kids on the ship.

Overall I loved the experience at the Maritime Museum. Also if you growed up in Auckland you can visit their for free ( I don’t think the boat though )

The Maritime Museum’s website is here : https://www.maritimemuseum.co.nz/ If you wanna see a bit more of what it’s about.

I’ll add pictures too!

Have you gone to the Maritime Museum? ( During school or on the holidays sometime ) If you haven’t, would you wanna go?

Amorangi and Millie’s Trip Through Time

Ni Hao, Khadijah here.

I enjoyed the book and I think many other people would. but I had a bit of a confusing time understanding whats happening. Their was something new each chapter and it didn’t explain the people. I think if I tried to read it it would make more since because I can go in my own speed.

I think the book would be good for any ages, or people who love imagining and have a big imagination because its about time traveling.

Did you like the book and why?

Creative Writing

Kia ora bloggers,

in my class we’ve been doing creative writing, about a topic of your choice. I did one about McDonalds and their is the other part to it on my blog 2 or 3 posts ago so check that post out so this writing makes more sense.

The image is a bit blurry, so I’ll be adding the text right under here :

Once I got down into the foam pit I was never seen back out. My friends were still waiting and waiting for me to come out. Thinking I was playing a prank on them.

“You there?” My friends shouted.

There was no response and they were quiet for 5 minutes just standing still. I felt a hand on my leg pull me down even further. I went down a dark slide screaming my lungs out wondering where I was going. I was found in a huge maze with another person who I had never seen before.

“Hello?” Who are you?” The little voice said.

“Hi” What are you doing here too?” I asked

“I’ve been stuck here for over a year” Replied the person.

“How?” I asked curiously.

It turns out they were one of the missing kids, we both looked around in the maze together trying to find the way out. The further we got into the maze the more missing kids we saw.

Bees Wax Wraps!

Talofa Bloggers,

Yesterday my classroom ( and every Kauri class ) made a bees wax wrap, a bees wax wrap can be used up to 100 times and your saving 100 pieces of glad wrap and its a great swap instead of using glad wrap for sandwiches / food.

I did forget the company, but the main instructors name was Shawn and he was a park ranger and used to work at a school.

The people who helped us do this was volunteers, it was very easy to make. We first got a cotten fabric with a print and then we went to a station which had a iron. then we placed 6 by 6 cubes of bees wax cubes onto a parshment paper and iron it on top of the fabric until it melts / sizzles.

I hated the smell, it smelled very similar to honey and smelt a bit burnt. The bees wax wrap is very useful, and is saving the enviroment. And I encourage others to use them!

Have you ever made / had a bees wax wrap? I will also be adding a picture of how me and my friends ones turned out!

Amorangi and Mille’s Trip Throguh Time – Ponder 8

~ 👽  Hola bloggers,

I think it would be so cool to mix 3 animals, I would choose to mix a butterfly, t rex and a rat. I would make the body a rat, a head of a t rex and the t rexs hands would be the wings of a butterfly. ( Land Animal )

The special abilities of this creature would be, its light, it can fly and though it may look nice it can attack using the dinosaur head ( sharp teeth and a HUGE mouth )

Another interesting mix I thought of would be a crocodile, t rex, and a snake. The body of a snake, head as a crocodile and the rest of the body a t rex. ( Sea Animal )

Would you make 3 animal creature land animal or sea?

Creative Writing ( McDonalds )

✨ :: Kia ora bloggers! For the past week my class has been doing creative writing daily for 30 minutes in the morning, I wrote about McDonalds yesterday and the Grimace today. I will be posting my McDonalds creative writing.

I think its one of my favourite writing pieces because 1 we got to choose what we want to write about, 2, its McDonalds, and 3 I think it really focuses on my main goals in writing, and what I’ve been focusing on in class. ( Dialogue, descriptive language, correct puncuation when using dialogue etc )

Heres the photo of my writing, it is a bit blurry though so I’ll be adding the text if you can’t read it correctly.

McDonalds! Everyone likes McDonalds right? But you wont like this one.. Everyone loved this McDonalds for having a big play house with a HUGE pit full with cubes of foam ( the ones you may have seen at Jump ) But stories have told that on the average 100 kids go missing every year from this foam pit. So me and my friends thought it was a good idea to go to the McDonalds.

Once we got their it looked pretty messed up. The sign was broken and it was covered in dust. We went inside and went straight to the play area, at first glance it didnt look very deep, but when you go inside its like your drowning in foam, which I did not want that to be the way I drown. I wanted to go in first because I thought it would be pretty fun, but no. When you first go in its pretty comfortable, then the foam starts bringing you down, going all the way down to the bottom of the foam pit and going even further. It dosen’t exactly have a name but I’ll just call it the backrooms.

It is a bit un finished, as we only had 30 minutes but I think its okay for 30 minutes, and i’m proud of this piece of writing.

Do you love McDonalds? ( To see my other posts its https://odskhadijahm.edublogs.org/ )
